The tour was great! Easy meeting point, great tour guide, and really nice coverage of some of the main points of interest in Sevilla. I definitely walked away with a better sense of the city and its history. Francisco was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and great at explaining things in an approachable way. I loved his use of pictures/maps. It added a lot to the tour and helped make it even easier to visualize certain historical, geographical, and architectural points.

Highly recommended to visit
The Alcázares are one of the most visited monuments in Spain. Its tourist attraction lies in the fusion of cultures, in the imprint of history that is impregnated in its walls and in the delight that brings to all senses its wonderful image. The gardens, the wild animals and the fish pond are the ideal setting to enjoy this monumental complex immersed in nature. It even houses a mirtos maze in which to get lost. In conclusion is very beautifull.
Today it is the oldest Royal Palace in use in Europe. It is owned by the Seville City Council. Numerous conservation works have had to be carried out as it has even withstood earthquakes.

History Alcazar of seville
It was built as a protective fortress for Muslim authorities. It has a mixture of Renaissance and Baroque, Romantic, Gothic and Mudejar. The tour includes the visit of the Courtyard of the Maidens, the Prince’s Room, the Courtyard of the Dolls, the Ambassadors’ Hall, the Gothic Hall of parties, the Tapestry Hall, the Mercury Pond, the Dance Garden and the Garden of the Poets.
According to its history, it is a Christian building, but art is purely Muslim.
Therefore so this merger is what makes it so special.
The three great Gothic halls would be built by Alfonso X El Sabio after the death of his father, Fernando III, precisely in the palace enclosure. Pedro I El Cruel built the Mudejar Palace. This palace was composed of four rooms. King Pedro I continued the style of his father hiring alarifes from Toledo, Granada and Seville itself. The materials used were ceramics, plaster and wood.

Queen Isabella the Catholic decided to create the Casa de Contratación de las Indias to control the belongings that came from travel. They were warehouses that have remained as the Audience Room or Admiral’s Room to this day.
More than its history
This magical place was home to kings and characters very relevant to the story. It is composed of buildings from different periods and therefore of different styles. The first building was built on a settlement that belonged to Romans and Visigoths.
It later became a Paleochristian basilica called San Vicente Mártir, a place chosen to bury San Isidoro. It would be in the year 713 when it began to have its current appearance, after the capture of the city by the Arabs. One of the palaces surrounding the two large courtyards was contemporary with the famed Alhambra of Granada. The Nasrid king Mohamed V ordered this fortification to be built by renowned artisans. In 1248, the Reales Alcázares passed to the next kings because of the Reconquest of Seville.
Curiosities Alcazar of seville
- The Courtyard of the Dolls is eight times smaller than the main one. Its name comes from a very curious tradition: in the columns there are carved nine faces that, it is said, give luck to whoever locates them. It is a very fun game for the little ones.
- It was the home of the Catholic Monarchs. Juan, the Benjamin, was born on this site. It was also the place chosen to receive Columbus. In the Audience room you can see his coat of arms, in memory of this event.
- Legend has it that King Peter the Cruel murdered his half-brother Fadrique of Trastámara within these walls. In one of the rooms there remain some red stains of the blood that spilled and was absorbed by the marble of the floor.
- It was the place chosen for the liaison of Charles V and Isabella of Portugal. The Infanta Elena, after her wedding, chose this beautiful place to take the aperitif.
- One of the pools is called that of Maria Padilla, since she, Peter I’s wife, bathed in it every day while waiting for her beloved husband.

- Recording place of the incredible Kingdom of Dorne of the famous TV series Game of Thrones.
- One of the doors of the Royal Alcazar was given to the Palace of the Dukes of Arcos, in Marchena, for a debt the Duke of Osuna had. Alfonso XIII ordered it to be returned to its place of origin piece by piece and so it was done. Alcazar Seville tickets tours
